made this prediction. >> so barring a major miracle i'm calling the election right now. it's already over. >> cenk: oops. the gallup poll out today 47%-47%. for those of you math-challenged, that would be a tie. what did i say again? it's already over. >> cenk: oh, boy. now, that was just one poll. i have other polls for you. gallup, as i just showed you the 47-47 post debate. rasmussen 49-47 but that's rasmussen. polite co-,an one-point lead for president obama. when you put that all together it is not good news. what did i say again? >> it's already over.

>> cenk: oops. okay, it gets worse. pew out today. 45-49--the fore four-point lead--disaster. what did that idiot say? >> cenk: it's already over. >> cenk: 12 different poll versus romney going up on average 4.5% since the debate give it to me one more time. >> it's already over. >> cenk: okay, now i'm going to show you why you shouldn't panic and why that idiot talk show host is not wrong. but first i got to say something more important. i've said like many other pundits that president obama lost that debate. and he clearly did. you look at the polls from all these different organizations they say he lost from 32 to 42 points. but i don't want to equate two

things and get them confused. a tactical victory and a debate for mitt romney does not mean you should vote for him. it doesn't mean that he's right. nice job on the debate the tactics, and president obama i can't believe you screwed that up. look at all those lies, why didn't you attack him. it doesn't mean that he's telling the truth and it doesn't mean that president obama is not accurate in what he says is his policies and numbers. i look at these numbers, i think, oh my god there are people who accidently believe that that good debate was reality. the reason why president obama had a bad debate is because he could not clearly show that mitt romney does not live in a reality-based world. now i'm getting pissed. look, i don't mean you should vote for romney. to me that is so obvious right? but apparently it's not obvious to people at home.

that's why president obama has to do a much better job at these debates because they aren't theoretical. they're not patty cakes. it causes people to vote for the other guy. nonetheless, don't panic average all the polls that obama is up 48-47%. it's not a big lead but it's still a lead. and the swing states. well, if obama has the lead of over 2.5 percentage points that means its still comfortably in his category. you have wisconsin, nevada iowa and ohio. if he wins those those are comfortable leads for the moment being in those states, then he gets 290 electoral votes. he needs 270 and he wins comfortably. will he get those swing states? well, "huffington post"," their pollster did an analyst

according to the polls he still has a 91% chance of winning in ohio and 71% chance in winning in colorado. those are incredible good numbers. the presidential pick, these are the guys who are in the market who is been to win this is people voting with their money. president obama still has his as you can tell, a two-thirds chance of winning according to those guys. in the end this guy might have gotten it right after all. okay, that would have been me saying it's over. you got it. now, i do want to say however it would be nice if president obama didn't lose the next debate. that would be very helpful. let me bring in two guys who can help me with this. we have michael shure as always our epic politics man and cliff who wrote the book on

john mccain, and he works for the guardian online and michael let me start with you. a lot of disastrous polls there but there is one that is trending in president obama's favor. >> i would not say that it's trending in the president's favor. what it is is, it's called a rolling poll. where they add a day and take a day away that was seven days away and they do that poll on a daily basis. that has the president up by five points. the day before the debate, the day of the debate, and the post debate information. but included in that information is the post jobs report. if you really want to reach for a branch you're a democrat, and those are the jobs numbers. that's five points up. i think first of all the debates matter. i think we tucked about this. >> cenk: you're going to rub it in. >> i'm not going to rub it in, but i'm going to say if you're

going to play a tape of you calling the race, here is another videotape. >> it's about what they mean to the campaign: i think they mean quite a lot. >> cenk: i don't think it will change the campaign at all. >> all right we're going to do this all day long? is this my show? what's going on here? cliff, is it panic time? >> no, the rasmussen poll shows up by two points and michael just pointed out the economical numbers. when we got together and put together the numbers we did a hell of a job cooking everything for. when people saw those job numbers and the media reaction, that starts to bring it back. yeah they have a bounce of one or two points that may be permanent, but it's not where they're tied or romney is ahead. >> cenk: understand that a lot of these polls that we just showed you showed romney gains 4.5% on average, they were post

debates. when they do, things look a lot rosier. can president obama lose if he continues to get his ass kicked in the debates tactically. >> you have to look at what the ohio numbers look like. you see michigan tightens right away. if ohio starts to tighten up, and mitt romney begins to make a play in ohio, then i would begin to panic. i think ohio is the place to look. >> i say the same thing. having spent time there, i would say, look, the mood there, i've seen the police, the firefighters fraternal order of police the firefighters sat out for the first time to endorse since 9. '96. and then you see the auto bailout, and he may have lost a few points there.

but you have this cushion of the types of voters that he has in other place. these midwestern white voters who think emotionally from the auto bailout that obama is on their side. i don't think it will get there. >> cenk: that is a great analysis of ohio. cliff happens to live in ohio that's pretty convenient. i want the audience to understand as long as ohio is still comfortably in president obama's camp when then we're in good shape. if it gets dicey in ohio, then ring the bell and its time to panic. mitt romney had a foreign policy speech and i want to rip it to shreds. >> i hope the president hopes for a safer freer prosperous middle east, along with us. i share this hope. but hope is not a strategy. >> cenk: yeah, i'm coming for you, mitt. we'll talk about that speech and what nonsense it was. and then bill o'reilly and jon

[ bleep ] be a nurse. after being a nurse for about twenty years i decided that i need to further my education. my masters degree was done completely online and that gave me the freedom and ability to do my education while i raised my kids and worked full time. raising my kids as a single mom and having them see me get my education online and work full-time has given them the opportunity to see that they can do anything that they want to. i'm currently the hospital administrator for two public hospitals.

we serve patients who might not otherwise get care. i teach an online nursing program. i feel that i'm giving back something to the nurses that are attempting to get their bachelors degree like i did. doing online education is something that i suggest to many, many people.

here are the six specific things that he mentioned in his speech. increase and tighten sanctions against iran. wow, you want to get tougher with iran. if mitt romney you can look forward to that invasion. aircraft carrier group in the mediterranean and the gulf. great, more war. and condition eight to egypt. okay, a thing about that. now it's an easy thing to say. if you don't do what we're going to do, we're going to take our money away. that makes sense. and i would agree with that as well. they have a peace deal with israel we're going to take that money away. you want to ruin the peace deal that egypt has with israel? that's what you want to do, you thoughtless simple ton? and then he said, i want to recommit america. in write you thought you should give up on the peace process. we'll get back to that in a

minute. and then support syria as opposition groups that share american values, great more war. we'll get back to syria in a second. and i love this. he says, president obama did in afghanistan was totally political and i want to withdraw troops by 2014. what happened, mitt? this is the same idiot who argued we should stay in iraq. if you want to stay in iraq, veto for mitt romney. this is disastrous foreign policy. wait a minute, were you for going into libya or not for going into libya. and you want to talk about dictators, i can't believe obama

gadhafi. which one is it, mitt? and when you talk about that, palestine-israel is perfect. here's what he said in his speech today. >> finally i would recommit america to the goal of a democratic prosperous palestinian state living side by side in peace and security with the jewish state of israel. on this vital issue the president has failed and it has dissolve in the heated disfoots at the u.n. >> cenk: that's what he said in public. am i not merciful, fine, let's have two states. remember what he said in private. when meeting with fundraisers this is what he said about peace in the area. >> the palestinians have no interest whatsoever in establishing peace and that the pathway to peace is almost unthinkable to accomplish.

is the worst idea in the world. we've done that time and time again. it does not work. so the only answer is to show your strength, again. >> cenk: the only thing that they understand is strength! they've been occupied for 60 years. i think they get your force of strength. it's not like they're confused on that issue. of course, though, it's the republican ideology which is strength! we crush them! we go to war in the middle east! shoot, we screwed this up. that's mitt romney. if you vote for this guy you'll have endless wars. on that alone you you'd be mental to vote for him. and finally all mitt romney has offered is bluster and plat attitudes. he as erratically shifted positions on every major foreign policy issue including

>> cenk: now 19 different states have passed laws that say we need voter i.d. because there is rampant democratic voter fraud. now in a pennsylvania case when asked to provide a single piece of evidence that in was voter fraud they couldn't do it. not a single piece of evidence. does that mean there is not voter fraud in the country? there is gigantic republican

voter fraud. a guy was paid $21 million by the republican party since 2004. they have asked him to do voter registrations with a high degree of impropriety over and over again. the republicans told them, change the name of your company a couple of times so those earlier names have been tainted by fraud. it started in florida and they're thinking of doing a criminal investigation in florida on his voter fraud and other swing states like colorado where this young girl was caught working and doing voter fraud. >> who are you registering, all voters? >> i'm trying to register people for particular parties because we're out here in support of romney actually. >> you're working for the county clerk's office. >> i believe so, yes. >> you're only registering republicans? >> nope. >> you said we're only registering romney people.

>> we're trying to. >> cenk: they said that the there is voter fraud in florida. if your address has changed you can't vote. they changed party affiliation and they registered dead people. all the things they accused the democrats of doing when the democrats didn't do it, and the republicans did it. they're unbelievable. there is a different group entirely called true the vote. what are they doing? they're trying to make sure that people don't vote. but not everybody just the people who live in these particular areas. if they are students, if they are trailer park residents. how do you like that one? if they're homeless people, if they're african-americans--of course. elijah cummings, a long time not just civil rights activist but congressman said if these efforts are intentional politically motivated and widespread across multi it will states they could amount to a criminal conspiracy to deny legitimate voters their constitutional rights. now, you have got to worry about

the voter fraud that the republicans are doing. you got to worry about the people that they're trying to disenfranchise. one group that has been doing this for a long time is convicted felons. in 12 different states they're not allowed to vote at all. these murderers, of course we should not allow them back into civil society. first of all, they served their time. second of all they're not all murderers and rapist. >> last year i was able to vote in the state of indiana because that's where i was residing at the time but i recently relocated back to virginia. where in the state of virginia there are 450,000 who are formerly incarcerated people and formerly i'm having to go through a waiting period. i put in an application to have my rights restored in august, and unfortunately i have not received a response. i speak for the practically

6 million disenfranchised people across the country who are afforded the opportunity to vote. in my opinion it's something that should be a basic fundamental human rights. once people have served their debt to society there should be automatic retore ration of voting rights? >> cenk: how many of you have done non-violent drug offense. all those people should not be allowed to vote? you know who has done non-violent drug offenses? president obama, president bush, you keep going back and you see where you stop. not only were they allowed to vote, they were allowed to become president of the united states of america. someone who has been studying this is lisa bloom and she joins us now. a lot of people, lisa, will go, well they're felons, what do you do? how do you answer? >> we're talking about 6 million americans who are legally barred from voting. in some states this is one in four african-american men are bar ready voting.

these are people who have served their time. they're tax-paying citizens credibilitying to the economy and many are veterans and they should not be prevented from voting. >> cenk: a lot of republicans will turn around and say democrats, they want criminals to vote and that's why they want the criminal vote. that sucks. that's ugly, but it might be politically effective. how do you get beyond that? >> first of all let's consider who we're talking about. half of these people, as you point out are non-violent drug offenders. are we to say that for the rest of their lives, which is the law in many states, for the rest of their lives they're barred from voting? and is anyone deterred from committing a crime because they won't be able to vote for four years after coming out of prison? i don't think that will deter anyone. iceland, a country i just visited which has a low incarceration rate compared to us. in iceland and many european

countries, not only can inmates vote, they can vote while in prison. they're encouraged to vote. why? they encourage them to remain connected to their community. they're still citizens of that country. they want them to look at what is going on and be a part of it. and they have far low recidivism because people remain connected. they keep those connection to those communities. >> cenk: and their economy is booming. oops. >> and they have the highest rate of child literacy. and low incarceration. and there is a clear connection between those two. >> cenk: i love the point that you gave about incentives. guys about to commit a crime. i'm going to stab this dude, but on the other hand i won't be able to vote later. who has ever said that in the history of america.

i want to show you more examples. this guy in virginia who is not allowed to vote. >> former city councilman turned civil rights activist is a felon of tax evasion and he makes no bones about it. >> i have been strip offed my right to vote and hold public office. now he's fighting to getel felonsget felonsand convicted felons in the lawsuit. he's asking the judge to rule on his argument that the felon disenfranchisement is unconstitutional in virginia. >> so what that means is that every person, even in prison will have their rights restored. >> cenk: so it's an interesting point. finally on the issue of civil rights here. a lot of people argue that our

incarceration of african-americans is a new form of jim crow. is this a way of disenfranchising by another name. >> there is no question. i've written a book on this in some length. there is no question. even though african-americans and whites have about the same level of drug use and drug selling overwhelmingly it's african-americans who are prosecutorprosecutorred, who get these long sentences and then when they come out, there is a connection between civil rights and felony disenfranchisement. how can we allow to get rid of jim crow laws, how can we allow so many african-americans be legally barred from voting. i think it's a crying shame and one of the final chapters in the civil rights movement that needs
